Gloria Karmun was first elected to the Board of Directors in 1998. She is currently serves as Board Chair and has served in the following positions with SNC: 1st Vice Chair Board of Directors, Chair of Bonanza Fuel, LLC, Vice Chair of Sitnasuak Properties, LLC, Vice Chair of Sitnasuak Financial Services, LLC, Director of Banner Wind, LLC, Director of Sitnasuak Health Solutions, LLC, Director of SNC Technical Services, LLC, Member of the Bylaws & Personnel Committee, and Chair of the Land Committee.
She previously served as an Office Assistant II for the Alaska State Troopers. Currently, she serves as a tribal council member of Nome Eskimo Community and a Board Member for the Church of the Nazarene.
Edna "Becka" Baker was first elected to the Board of Directors in 2016. She currently serves as the 1st Vice Chair and has served in the following positions with SNC: Treasurer, Member of the Bylaws & Personnel Committee Member of the Elders Committee, Member of the Finance Committee, Member of the Communications Committee, Member of the Subsistence Committee, Director and Secretary of Bonanza Fuel, LLC, Director and Secretary, Sitnasuak Properties, LLC, Director and Secretary of Sitnasuak Financial Services, LLC.
She is currently a Director of Bering Straits Native Corporation.
Marie Tozier was appointed to the SNC Board of Directors in January of 2023. Marie currently sits as the Executive Director of Nome Eskimo Community. Raised in Nome, her grandparents are Dan and Ethel Karmun and her parents are John and the late Laraine Garrison.
Dr. Amarok was first elected to the Board of Directors in 2011. She is currently the Treasurer for the Board of Directors and has served in the following positions with SNC: Board Chair, Assistant Secretary, Vice-Chair of the Elders Committee, Vice-Chair of the Bylaws and Personnel Committee, Chair and Secretary/Treasurer of Sitnasuak Financial Services, LLC. She brings strong experience and advanced education to successfully lead SNC into the future.
Currently, Dr. Amarok serves as the Director of the UAF Northwest Campus based in Nome, board member for the Association of Alaska School Boards (AASB), board member for Nome Public Schools, member of the Education Compact Committee for First Alaskans Institute, and member of the Alaska Native Collaborative Hub for Research on Resiliency (ANCHRR).
Helen Bell has served on the Board of Directors since 1987. Helen currently serves as the board Secretary as well as the Chair of the Elders Committee, Vice-Chair of the By-Laws/Personnel Committee, and a member of the SNC Technical Services Committee.
Crystal Andersen-Booth re-joined SNC's Board of Directors in 2022. Crystal's Inupiaq name is "Umalaaq" after her grand mother Elsie Karmun of Deering. Her Parents are Stan Andersen of Nome and Penny and the late Pierre Boutet of Anchorage. Her husband of 30 years is Evan Booth and together, are blessed with 6 children and 2 grandchildren. Crystal's experience consists of 10 previous years on the SNC board, her current board status with SIU Cooperation and her 20 year career with Alaska Airlines.
Katie was elected to the SNC Board of Directors in 2021. Her father, Franklin Okleasik, Sr., came to Nome from Mary’s Igloo when he was two years old and was a lifelong resident of Nome. Her mother, LaVonne Okleasik, came to Nome as a teacher in 1963 and immersed herself in our community. Both her parents taught her to love and be thankful for the beauty of where they live – the people, the land, the values, the language, and the culture. Her parents have since passed away, and she is growing older with age and wiser with experiences that are propelling her into seeking ways to perpetuate the beautiful ways that Sitnasuak/Nome can nurture our well beings, families, our community, and our culture.
Chugie was elected to the SNC Board of Directors in 2021. Chugie the daughter of Stanley and Valerie Sobocienski; and the granddaughter of Milton and Mary Adams and Helen (Castel) Stuart. She currently resides in Anchorage, with her husband Jeff Folk. She was born and raised in Nome, where she attended Nome Public Schools. Her childhood consisted of going to fish camp every summer to help put away our traditional foods, something that she still does as much as possible today so that she can share with Family and Elders who reside in Anchorage. After receiving a degree in the accounting field, she started working for Bering Straits Native Corporation as an Account Receivable Clerk and in her 22 years of employment she has worked her way up to an Accounting Manager.
Richard Foster was first elected to the Board of Directors in 2018. He has served in the following positions with SNC: Chairman of SNC Technical Services, LLC, Director of Sitnasuak Properties, LLC, and Member of the Finance Committee.
He currently serves as an Economic Development Specialist with Klickitat County Economic Development and Gunnery Sergeant with the United States Marine Corps Reserves . He also serves as a Board Member for the South Central Workforce Development Council, and Board Member for the Klickitat County Affordable Housing Board.
LieuDell (Ayaaq) Goldsberry, 41 of Sitka, Alaska is the son of the late Victor Goldsberry and mother Nancy Kunayak. He was the past owner of Chukotka-Alaska, Inc. in Nome, Alaska, a tourist shop that specialized in Native and Russian art that operated for twenty plus years. He also taught and coached at Nome Public Schools for eight years. Currently, he is an Assistant Residential Principal/Activities Director for Mount Edgecumbe High School in Sitka, Alaska.
Andrew C. Miller Jr. was first elected to the Board of Directors in 2006. He has served in the following positions with SNC: currently, a director previously 2nd Vice Chair Board of Directors, Director of SNC Technical Services, LLC, Chairman of Sitnasuak Properties, LLC, Vice Chair of Bonanza Fuel, LLC, Secretary of Sitnasuak Technical Services, LLC, Secretary of Nanuaq, LLC, Secretary/Treasurer of Insight Consulting, LLC, Secretary/Treasurer of GBS, LLC, Secretary/Treasurer of API, LLC, Member of the Elders Committee, Member of the Land Committee, Member of the Finance Committee, and Member of the Subsistence Committee.
He also currently serves as a Director with Alaska Village Initiatives.
