Kickstarting the holiday season, SNC subsidiary, Bonanza Express (Express), brought the Halloween spirit to life by organizing its annual Halloween Coloring Contest for kids in Nome. Since 2016, this tradition has helped to fostered creativity and adds a touch of seasonal magic to the community.
Children, accompanied by their parents, visited Express to collect Halloween-themed coloring pages. They took these pages home, adding vibrant colors to the pages of Halloween scenes. Once their creations were complete, the kids returned to the store, where the Express staff displayed their artwork on the walls, turning the store into a gallery of seasonal spirit.
Each year, two to three employees are selected as the panel of judges to evaluate the kid’s artwork and determine the winners. This year’s winners of the Halloween Coloring Contest were Anjinya Dixon (1st place), Lexi Miller (2nd place), and Ella Hubert (3rd place). Each winner received a gift card to Bonanza Express, providing them with an opportunity to enjoy some treats from the store.
The holiday activities don’t stop there though. Bonanza Express will be hosting its Christmas Coloring Contest in December, offering kids not only a creative activity but a chance to win a giant Christmas stocking filled with toys.
Express Manager, Scott Crowe, shared his thoughts, saying, “The kids seem to enjoy it as well as parents – it’s always fun. Plus, it makes the walls full of fun images to look at…”
